National Debt: Who's in charge of our money?

When I read about bills asking for any amount of money I always wonder "why so much?" And I think "who crunched the numbers and came up with that amount?"I have a theory about who figures out how much money is needed for whatever project we feel the federal govt needs to fund and who knows, they may be in charge of knowing where all the money goes too. Even though this isn't the case, the reality is: we are a nation in financial bondage and we have a government that wants to do something about it. So, they decide to help people who are facing foreclosure save their houses, well, maybe those people can't afford their house and would profit better if they would live within their means. Let's help people not to spend money they don't have. Let's educate people on budgets and how to cook, let's start a club: How not to keep up with the Jones (no matter how great they are). I look around me and there are young married couples trying to jump into a lifestyle they cannot support. It's okay to be poor! Being poor is the new rich! There's a sense of wealth being poor but debt free, no you can't afford a cruise or European holiday, but there's no stress of creditors, or wondering how you're gonna make a payment each month. So do yourself (and in a way our country) a favor, get out of debt and stay there and start a savings account with the money you used to pay to creditors. If you do that you'll have a better sense of freedom, happiness and peace in your life. I promise you that!

Prop 8

Okay, I wasn't going to write anything on this but I can't help speaking up after all the hate I have read as a result of Prop 8 passing.
Seriously, how can anyone take a group seriously when they react in such a hateful manner? I read some posts by a person I don't want to name they were downright rude! This is the way politics goes! One side wins the other loses, it's a democracy (well, sort of). The point is that it doesn't matter where the majority of the money that supports a side comes from. Money does not (or at least it shouldn't) buy votes! The bottom line is the number of those for Prop 8 were greater than those opposed, this is how a side wins, they outnumber the others in votes.
It's time to stop being sore losers and embrace the defeat. A prime example of how a party should react to loss is when Mitt Romney ( a Mormon) lost the bid for President. You better believe the Mormon's didn't go storming the castle because their guy lost! No, instead they got behind the other guys and tried to make a difference there.
I don't deny that hate may be found on both sides of this issue, bottom line is that it's wrong. Regardless, it is wrong!
Please, stop attacking. It's sad to see a nation such as ours divided over such petty issues. In an effort to accommodate and make everybody happy, an impossible feat, we have created division and unhappiness. It's time to just STOP! And to try and live in harmony one with another.
Another thing that weighs heavily on my mind is the cry that people's rights are being infringed upon. Do they not realize that when they go about trying to change things they inevitably end up infringing upon other people's rights? Primarily the rights of the majority. A principle upon which our country was founded was by the voice of the majority, this is not to say minorities may not speak up or do not have a voice, it is simply saying that as long as the majority feel one way, the minorities either need to deal with it or do their best to sway others to create a majority in their favor.
Now you've heard where I stand, I'd like to hear what you have to say on the issue. Please be courteous and refrain from needless attacks, profane language, and/or inaccurate accusations.

New President

Fellow Americans,
Yesterday a new man was elected as President of our great nation. If he is the best we have then God help him . . . I know I will heed the advice of my local religious leader who encouraged us to stand behind the newly elected Commander in Chief regardless of whether or not we voted for him. I pray that he will be true to his words and plant his feet on solid ground. I hope that he lays a firm foundation at the base of his economical solutions so that we don't fall victim to another crisis such as the one we are currently in.
I did not vote for Barack Obama, I feel that worse could have happened. However, I will do my part to maturely and effectively be productive in doing what I can to help our nation rise above its current issues. I encourage all to do so.
This means it's time to go "pro-active"! Learn the issues, form your opinion, and provide ideas for solutions.
Write to you local representatives, tell them your concerns and propose a solution, or offer to provide any help they may need to go forward with another solution. Be responsible and help dig America out of its hole!
I love America! I love my freedom! I love this great land and I know it can be better if we just stand up and fight for it.
